Bethune Nutrition Fair – October 21

phx1_nutritionfairPhoenix #1’s Child Nutrition Department hosted a Nutrition Fair at Central Kitchen on October 21.

In fulfillment of the goals set forth by the Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program, the fair featured 5 stations with different activities. This first fair hosted students from Bethune School, grades 1-3. Approximately 160 students attended!

Activities included: Farmers Market Toss, Nutrition Education, Snack Station, and Trivia.

Goals of the Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program:

  • Create healthier school environments by providing healthier food choices
  • Expand the variety of fruits and vegetables children experience
  • Increase children’s fruit and vegetable consumption
  • Make a difference in children’s diets to impact their present and future health
